bcb723 The first EP from the genius behind Tribulation, this acoustic only/singer-songwriter affair goes in perfect tandem with his recent killer record "Chants From Another Place." When news broke that he was leaving Tribulation to pursue a solo career (2020 - a bad year on so many levels), my initial reaction was dismay and disbelief... until I heard these songs. Then I was like "Oh ok. I get it - makes 100% sense now." Follow your muse wherever the songs take you, greatness follows. Favorite track: Leaving.

WEAVER A prelude, a taste, a demonstration of what would come on Chants from Another Place. All the things that make Jonathan Hulten great can be found on this EP, but it is nothing in comparison to the beautiful LP. Favorite track: Anguished Are the Young.

Carsten Pieper After reading a rave review about his new album "Chants From Another Place" I checked it that could be found here on Bandcamp. It wasn't. Instead, I found this EP from 2017 on which that review would have fit, too. Great songs, great vocal arrangements, great singing. And yes, this enticing collection of folky songs surely isn't what you'd expect of a Dark Metal band's guitar player ;-) Favorite track: Anguished Are the Young.

donn1_e So powerful, yet so fragile - full of feeling and imagination. Musical poetry. Favorite track: Nightly Sun.

d1ngetje I love everything on this record. It's delicate, melancholic and dark,.Yet there are sparkles of light and hope. Jonathan's voice is beautiful, but his musical skills are not to be underestimated, specially those on the guitar. Favorite track: Leaving.

Fooling around because you don’t know what to do Trying to find yourself in the eye of the storm Swept along with the times as you are groping in darkness As a restless spirit you are wandering around How will this end? Only time can tell my friend Standing in the middle of a time of worry Who am I and who do I want to be? Anguished are the young when they choose their lives Regretful are the old when they know they will die How will this end? Only time can tell my friend How will this end? Only time can tell my friend You will laugh and you will cry We’re all young until the day we die You will laugh and you will cry We’re all young until the day we die How will this end? Only time can tell my friend How will this end? Only time can tell my friend

Leaving 03:57
In quiet suspension I’m spending my days Like a bird in a cage Waiting to break out Sometimes I’ve tasted freedom Like it is, like it sounds And in those special moments I find all that I want Can you feel it? I feel it Mmm… As it flies around and around And makes me leave the ground I am leaving In quiet suspension I’m biding my time In the name of a dream I locked myself away Sometimes I’ve tasted madness Like it is, like it sounds And in those frightening moments I find the leads that I need Can you feel it? I feel it Mmm… as it flies around and around And makes me leave the ground I am leaving Oh I am I tonight I am leaving

Life Has a funny way Of saying living is to change Insight comes When one has put all one's Defenses down One can suddenly receive This strange yet simple touch And the pillars of reality Tremble Death Is never far away But her embrace is not of harm If I dance Until the morning light shines bright Into my eyes I will bear to say goodbye With open arms and smile As the pillars of reality Crumble

Nightly Sun 05:55
Here we are, standing in a gap in time Here is still, outside the world is rushing by We have stopped, a journey just before its end On the roadside we abide, existence bends Then a vision strikes me with a blaze In this dream is another death, one of utter grace I see I have to dig right where I stand Beyond the current’s flow, in no one’s land A treasure flashed before my inner sight Buried in the dirt, the intangible night In spirit of the bold which I revere I walk into the darkness I fear The blackest spot is where I place my hand The starkest truth I wish to understand And if my pit will turn out as my grave In life I will be free and not a slave Contentment I don’t expect to find But ardor is what purely fills my mind In new shades and shadows the world is cast Providing glimpses of the fire and the vast
